Amador County Public Health Reports Additional Contact Investigation

Amador County, CA – The Amador County Public Health Department confirms that another contact investigation is underway related to a positive case of COVID-19. This individual is employed in Amador but does not reside within the county. During contact investigations all persons who were in close contact with a confirmed case are contacted, evaluated, and given further instructions.

“This is another reminder that COVID-19 is circulating throughout California, and of the continuous importance of social distancing measures detailed in the Stay at Home Order” says Dr. Rita Kerr, Amador County Health Officer. “It remains everyone’s responsibility to stay at home unless absolutely necessary, particularly when feeling ill. The vast majority of those who contract COVID-19 exhibit mild symptoms. We are concerned for more vulnerable members of our community who are at greater risk for severe illness.”

The new confirmed case, who resides outside of the county, will not be included in the Amador County case count.

The best ways to stay healthy and reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses including COVID-19:

  • When you have to go out for essential items cover your face to protect others, maintain 6 foot physical distance, minimize your time out and wash your hands as soon as possible afterward.
  • Wash hands with liquid soap and water, and rubbing for at least 20 seconds, or using alcohol-based sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.
  • Stay home if you are sick and call ahead before seeking medical care.
  • Regularly clean high-touch surfaces.
